>>240I dunno if it is the "best" but I think it is pretty interesting.
Before the show began airing, the official twitter account was introducing & promoting all the different mecha animators that were going to work on the show in an AD capacity and had them all draw an illustration.
You can see all of them here:
https://twitter.com/buildfighters/mediaThink and ask yourself, when has an official Twitter promoted the animation directors on a show? Sure some might promote the main staff, several of them are not main staff, these are people working in the animation director rotation. That's a certain kind of dedication.
Each episode thus far has had some great mecha animation. Some episodes more than others, but each episode almost always delivers some interesting animation.
Lead mecha ADs on the show are two relatively young people: Kim Se Jun and Hiroshi Arisawa.
Arisawa's animation tends to feature mecha drawn with a realistic tone to it. On the other hand, we have Kim who combines Hironori Tanaka's flair with Obari like timing/poses.
Episode 5 was a KenO AD/storyboard episode and it looked nice.
Ep 6 had staff I'm not familliar with but featured some intense mecha fighting animation, nobody expected that.
Ep 7 was the Obari episode and delivered Obari things.
Ep 8 had the lead chara/mecha AD of the show deliver lots of action.
Ep 9 is Mutaguchi Hiroki's AD ep.
Finally, ep 10 is Kim's AD episode, after that stellar 2nd episode, this should be one of the best looking ones yet again.
That is 6 episodes that feature some great talent and animation, back to back! Often a show will have one, or two teams in their rotation that are really good, this show has managed to feature 6 back to back. Sunrise are really putting a lot of effort into this series and it shows.
