seagulls, I need some advice. For years and years I've wanted to get into lolita. I've lurked for those years looking at the dresses and learning about what to do. But I have a slight hang up about it, and it's not just about the expense.

It's my size. I'm not a fatty, but I am curvy and usually the sizes of the dresses I like are about 1 or 2 inches below my measurements. Worse I love Moi but my waist definitely can't fit into that.

My measurements:
Bust: 38
Waist: 33
Hips: Fuck if I know.

Even if I do find a dress that fits I'm worried that I'll look like sausage in it, because I think loli looks best on skinny flat chested girls. What do /cgl/? It's summer/spring now and I'll be working off my winter fat, should I buy something like Divine Cross and work to get in it, or just give up and spend my money on other hobbies?

you know, you might want to look into getting custom made clothing. I'm able to fit into Japanese sizes but I still love getting my designs made my a capable seamstress. Look around on etsy or other various lolita clothiers that are in the U.S. or Europe and ask if they take custom orders. :)

ITS used to be my girl... ;_; her own designs were meh but she was so good at making mine look wonderful.

The good news is that lolita is fairly forgiving on girls with wide hips.

The bad news is that you will probably never fit into unshirred brand - don't worry, neither will I. But with a 38 bust you can still fit into many partial shirred brand, and most fully shirred brand, though I can't say if that is true for the "smaller" brands like MMM, MM or JetJ.

Your waist size is a bit unfortunate, but if you get a compressor cami it could help. It's basically just like a spandex unitard or tank top. You can get them at department stores.

Even MMM has dresses with shirring. Just buy things with full shirring/back-shirring. That way, as you lose weight, the clothes will still fit you.

I wouldnt kill you to get smaller than a US size 6. Also, a 36C isn't that big. Your bra size doesn't matter as much as your bust in cm/inches. You can fit into most bigger brands with a ~92cm bust and you can fit into most smaller brand with a 88cm bust

Usually full back shirring fits well and gives you a more tailored look. At 38'' you don't get the too-fat-for-the-dress look either.

Skirts and cutsews are also really flattering too! I love baby cutsews because they're way comfortable.

Trust me, I want to get back down to that and lower, I don't have much work to do since I'm a size 8 right now. The winter and uni reeked havoc on my body.

I know shirring is pretty good, it's just a matter of finding things that I like with it, I really like the more gothic and classic stuff.

I will have to agree with this comment. I was a 38" bust and 31" waist at 5'6" and I was chubby. You can still fit into plenty of brand, pretty much anything that has a fully-shirred back, but imho, losing a few inches is worth it and it shouldn't be that hard, as it's not like you are grossly overweight and it will take you long. When I was near your measurements, I felt fine for normal clothes but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel like a stuffed sausage in lolita :(

Yeah I don't feel overweight, a little flabby, and my self confidence is no longer in the gutter so I don't feel bad man about how I look, I mean, I think I look good for the most part. But I think everyone will agree, losing a bit isn't a bad thing, and getting in shape is awesome!

There are a lot of girls who wear corsets, alter, or just force the zippers to close (Insert photo of PZ in unzipped hiked up Vampire Requiem here- I don't have it on my computer)
Corsets can help but you can end up looking like Burnt Tuna and altering is a very valid option which often works well.

You might want to watch how you describe yourself here, anon. I'm surprised people haven't jumped on you. You're not FATTY FAT FAT FAT, but 38"-33" measurements is not "curvy," it's chubby. With by bust-to-waist ratio of 38"-29" I don't even consider myself curvy, just chubby. "Curvy" means a large difference between bust and waist, hip and waist, or both.

Sorry, this shit just bothers me.

Stained glass has no shirring at all so if you wanted to lose weight and try to get into that it'd be a good motivator, it's gorgeous.
Divine cross THE JSK VERSION not the velvet one without straps, has front and back shirring. So yeah it will fit you with plenty of room :)

And yeah, like everyone else, I'm not fat, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't see chub on myself. I only weight 125, but it's that extra few lbs that make things fit weird. Seriously, if you just drink a lot of water, watch the junk food, and work out a little, you can drop 10lbs in about 3 weeks or so.
