Hey, /cgl/, I'm going to be working with latex pretty soon, something I've never tried before. Before today, I didn't even realize that I would probably be gluing the latex instead of sewing it, THAT'S how little I know about it.

Could we get a latex tips and tricks thread? Tutorials, personal experience, everything would be helpful. Things you wish you'd known, pictures of good latex costumes, pictures of bad ones and how to avoid it. Anything and everything would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

A friend of mine just started a project that involves latex, and she's told me that the thinner it is, the more it rolls and is a bitch to work with. She got swatches of different thicknesses and colors at MJTrends, I think, so that would at least be a start.

I wanted to make this dress, and I was debating whether to use latex or PVC. I've never really worked with either before, so I am kinda in the dark about this.

how translucent does latex get? would it be a good idea for asuka's test suit from evangelion 2.0?

sorry to bump this when it seems to be dying. i've never worked with latex either but really want to try to do that asuka costume for awa.

I don't know how translucent latex can be, but you could always order swatches like someone else suggested of different thicknesses. They probably aren't expensive.
