I'm leaning toward more of a no. I might go to Otakuthon instead. FanExpo last year was pretty horribad with the exception of the masquerade. I hate how their gaming section was close to nonexistant. And lolovercapacity

I'm leaning towards "fuck no" and taking my money to Otakuthon as well. Entire setup at FANEXPO is a steaming pile of fail. Worth the extra money not to line the pockets of the organizers.

Last year they continue to sell badges even though the con was over capacity, it was clearly a cash-grab.

its fucking terrible, don't go. I had pre-registered and they wouldn't let me go in on saturday while they were continuing to sell tickets to other people. nothing to do except wait in lines and wade through crowds everywhere.

last year was complete shit, 5 hour lines for everything,
kept on selling tickets even after the firemarshall shut down the building,
i had to sneak in through a fire exit to get into the con on the saturday...
meeting summer glau was great, but all in all the con sucked

Yikes anons! Not OP, but I was thinking of going to FanExpo this year because the bf and I have never gone. But after all the horrible stories from last year, then maybe not...

I just wanted to go to more local cons. I don't have much disposable income this year and wanted to get the most out of my current cosplays than just debuting them for AN.

I was always fond of FanExpo because of the variety of genres they covered and I love the Metro Convention Centre, but FanExpo 2010 pretty much convinced me never to go back. My friends and I could barely move and we ended up just chilling in our hotel for a majority of the weekend. Hell, even though I don't like anime anymore, I'd much rather go to Anime North.
I hear that this year they're going to expand it and add another day, but if I do bother going, it's just going to be for a day if that.

polaris is also in toronto, used to be toronto trek i think,
or something along those lines,
its july 15 - 17th...
according to the website, jayne from firefly will be there and quark from star trek so pretty awesome

Last year's Fan Expo was total shit, except a couple of dealers with cool import items. For some godforsaken reason there was a large booth set aside for Zellers or Kmart.

It's a shame, because the previous time I went there in 2007 their gaming section was fucking awesome, with a full scale F1 racing simulator and a big space set aside for tabletop roleplaying and board games.

I think i'll be going to Otakuthon and Polaris as well. Especially after last years fanexpo. I'm a huge comic fan, more so than anime, but fanexpo just isn't worth it any more.
