I have a horrible weeb friend who asside from thinking that "FAYREEEYS 'N WITCHCRAFT" are totally legit and that if the boy doesn't look like a tranny he's not hot, she also takes cosplay WAY too seriously. Now I'm ok with wanting to take cosplay seriously in the sense of having it look good, and having pride in your work, but this chick takes it to a whole new, frightening, level.
>Be in 11th grade
>Walkin' down the hall like a boss
>See her at her locker about to pass out
>"Hey, you get enough sleep last night or what?"
>"I didn't sleep at all because my cosplay wasn't perfect, and if it's not perfect then what is the point of even going to the convention or cosplaying at all?
>I tell her that it will be ok, and that if this cosplay doesn't work out, she can always wear it to the next con and go in normal clothes to this one
>"You don't get it do you? You can't just go to cons not in cosplay, because that means you don't take it seriously! Only real con goers where cosplay, and if you think I'm going to skip out because it's not ready yet, then you need to re-think how you cosplay and what it means to be a con goer!!!!"
Later I found out that cons and anime are pretty much all she is interested in. I tried talking to her about other things like music, artists that aren't anime artists, and authors of classics, and she had no idea what I was talking about.
Needless to say, I don't talk to her much anymore after Highschool.
