Hey /ck/, I'm starting to get into cooking, and I have ingredients for wings but no equipment for deep frying.

I've got flour, wings, sauce, butter, and an oven.

Is it possible to make good wings that don't taste like baked chicken with sauce just thrown on top of them?

Any way to make a breading out of flour and eggs would be nice too.

put two inches of canola oil in your favorite pan, heat to temp

scramble eggs
put in bowl

put flour in a bowl with garlic powder, salt, pepper

dip chicken in eggs, dredge in flour, dip in eggs again, dip in flour, put in oil, cook until golden brown

"Traditional" wings (which is to say "Buffalo" style) do not use breading. I’ve found that the meat ratio of a wing is so low that even the lightest breading will mostly get in the way. So I’d just throw the wings right in there (no breading, egg wash, or even seasoning is necessary – since you’re probably going to be loading it up with sauce anyway). And yes, I’d also recommend against oven-baking, and would suggest deep-frying in a big cast iron pot on the stove top. Easy Peasy.
PROTIP: Overcook them. There is nothing worse than a slimy wing with pink “bleeding” meat.

Don't use this faggot's wing sauce recipe, butter based wing sauces are shit. Use straight hot sauce. If you'd rather have thicker sauce, just mix a little water and cornstarch in with your sauce and bring it to a boil.

How can you not have the things necessary for deep frying. You need :

- large pot
- source of heat
- large dose of paranoia and/or a thermometer that makes a noise if you go past X degres.

Doing it on the stove top is possible, easy, but a little nerve wracking. NEVER LEAVE THE POT ALONE. NEVER MOVE A POT OF HOT OIL. Keep small children the fuck out of your kitchen while doing it. Don't do this stoned. Like I said, be very paranoid.
