Could /ck/ recommend a good blue curacao recipe suitable for a punch bowl? I usually use a bottle of white wine + spirit + fizzy drink/fruit juice mixer. Does the curacao count as the 'spirit' or should I put something else in there?

Also what would be the best garnishes? maraschino cherries will look great but what else - oranges to go with the curacao?

Weird... I just posted about curacao...

I'd recommend not using the blue kind. It isn't as good as its cousins grand marnier, triple sec, or cointreau. If you're going to use blue, then go cinnamon (1) curacao (2) vodka (2) for an interesting flavour.

curacao is a liqueur... my favorite drink using curacao is a Blue Hawaiian. there are many different versions of this recipe, but I prefer the ones with coconut cream rather than orange juice. The recipe I usually use is:
4 oz coconut cream
2 oz blue curacao
1 oz sours mix
2 oz light rum
4 oz ice
3 oz pineapple juice
I usually mix this in a shaker because the coconut cream can be difficult to get to incorporate, and serve it in a pint glass. adjust accordingly

Fill glass(es) Sweet & Sour Mix

Mix all ingredients in a large glass over ice, stir/shake/jiggle/whatever then drink. Some like to add a little 7-up to give it a fizz, I don't. Mixed properly it's a stone grayish purple.

Mmm these all sound so good. Sorry I didn't see the earlier post about curacao, I think of a cooking related question and I come straight here and post! And yes of course it's a liqueur, sorry I was having a special moment there ^^;;

I have a bottle of blue curacao so I just want to use it up, also I wanted a bright coloured punch. Purple is a good colour too though! The coconut cream sounds gorgeous, I think I will try that one just for myself.
