So I am craving linguine aglio olio but did not think I had any anchovies to make it with. But, much to my surprise I found a can while digging in my pantry! However I have a problem since I have no idea how old they are. They do not have an expiration date on them as far as I can tell but they can't be more than three years old since that is how long I have lived in my current place and I typically throw out most food when I move. So are they safe to eat?

TL;DR Are canned anchovies of unknown age safe to eat?
