That is the entire basis of the Atkins Diet. When he wrote that stupid book, he really came out and told people they could eat as much of everything they wanted as long as they didn't eat carbs. Like, seriously, there is a part in the old Atkins book where he recommends eating fucktons of hot dogs as long as you don't have buns. Then people who did that shit got even unhealthier because Atkins had them believing they could eat meat buffet-style and actually lose weight and get healthy.
And the funny part is Atkins himself was a fat old fuck.
And it's the same way with the old low fat diets of the 80s and early 90s. Hurrp durrp you can eat ALL THE PASTA AND RICE YOU WANT AS LONG AS IT'S LOW IN FAT!
The fact of the matter is that people are stupid ass sheep who don't like taking responsibility and control of their lives, which is why SO many diets try to tell people they can eat as much as they want as long as they cut out a handful of specific things.
Also, Americans in general, usually act like spoiled babies whenever someone tries to tell them to actually eat healthy salads and a lot of fruits and vegetables. Good luck trying to get fat people to eat that shit, it just doesn't fucking work.
