when i was 19 the new york times invited me to something with an open bar. i had a tanqueray, fell in love. a long time later i found out that it's just gin, i thought it was something exotic. there are a few bottom shelf gins to stay away from, but the main ones are pretty comparable. not a bombay fan and haven't had hendricks.
i'm a lightweight so i a like 1:3 ratio + ice.
drink it under black light it will glow in the dark a little. i also like tonic, and limes, and together they are what i've been drinking for thirty years.
i drink those because i like to get my bartenders trained to just hand me my usual so we dont have to do small talk. however, my current bartender has me flirting with gin and cranberry instead now.
i haven't decided yet if it's a permanent switch.
g+t is versatile; it's as macho as scotch, as feminine as a wine cooler, popular with fags, appropriate to any occasion.
bonus: you can keep a bottle of tonic in your fridge and it wont be gone when you come back. it's bitter and sweet and many people hate it. protects against malaria.
