Saute onions and garlic in the oil from the anchovies till soft and golden. Add chopped anchovies and cook until they melt and the "fishy" smell goes away. Add red wine and cook down. Add herbs and seasonings and stir for a bit. Add canned tomato paste and work in, add canned crushed tomatoes and stir. Add salt and pepper to taste (add some crushed red pepper if you like some heat) and a good spoonful of brown sugar. Simmer about 30 minutes. Done. Enjoy orgasmic sauce.
* This is my basic sauce recipe, but you can add other ingredients as well, such as mushrooms, peppers, zucchini, meat, whatever.
