>>2773663>>2773647It's true. Much of Greek cuisine (even iconic foods like phyllo pies) was influenced by Turkish cuisine (hey, 400 years is a lot of time to allow for culinary syncretism, and I say that without the slightest bit of bitterness). Even though Tselementes tried diligently to remove foreign influences from Greek cuisine, it didn't work as much as he expected, but at least his efforts gave us the Greek version of moussaka, which is, interestingly, an artificial dish (Tselementes himself invented this variant, even though other forms had already existed in other countries).
There are foods that are just Greek, though. Feta is one of them (I usually refrain from going all HERP EVERYTHING IN GREECE WAS MADE BY GREEKS DERP, but feta cheese is one of the very few foods that are most certainly Greek). I can also think of a few obscure most definitely Greek foods, though. One of them is ouzokouloura, which are basically ouzo doughnuts/biscuits/cookies (I can't for the life of me think of the right word). I can also think of spetzofai (a sort of special sausages with tomato sauce), and a lot of other regional dishes.
Really, a very large part of Greek cuisine is derivative. The part which is not generally consists of obscure dishes in isolated parts of Greece.
