Can someone please tell me how i need to prepare a potato in the microwave? Im getting blamed for the electricity bill being so high from using the oven to microwave potatoes yet others take hour long showers and use blowdryers.....dumb.

Anyways i tried 10 minutes and poked holes in the thing and the potato shrunk, most of it was mushy, and soggy, then part was really hard. Some say if you dont poke holes it will explode in 5 mins, yet some say you dont need to poke holes in it.
