Recipe Images That Any Idiot Can Make

I want some recipe images, but I can't cook worth shit (and I don't have the time to learn how). So post some good ones that are brain-dead easy to make. I mean EASY. Like grilled cheese and Ramen fucking noodles easy. Food and drink both welcome, but let's not flood the thread with that video game cocktail shit.

I'll start things off by posting complete scans of an old book called "Jack & Mary's JELL-O Recipe Book" and then some additional Jello stuff.

That's that for the book. Here's a few more scans of Jello recipes. I don't know where these ones come from, but most of them appear to be from the 70's or maybe 80's with some going back a few decades earlier.

Me again. OK, I'll try to share what little I have.

Super-easy corn-on-the-cob:

FRENCH TOAST

Ingredients:

* 4 eggs

* 1 teaspoon sugar, optional

* 1 teaspoon salt

* 1 cup milk

* 10 to 12 slices white bread

* butter

* maple syrup or other syrup
Preparation:

Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate; beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk.
Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.
Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup.

Recipe for French toast serves 4.

I tried this gravy recipe, but it turned out thick as shit. I think you need either less flour or more drippings. Maybe another co/ck/ here can tweak it for you.

CHICKEN GRAVY
* 1/4 cup dripping, from frying chicken

* 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

* 2 cups milk

* salt

* pepper
Directions:

1. In a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, combine drippings and flour.
2. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute or until thick.
3. Gradually add milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
4. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
5. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Serve warm with fried chicken.

Just a note about whipped cream--it won't keep, because it doesn't have preservatives. So just make as much as you need, rather than whipping up the entire container of cream. Start with small amounts of sugar, and work up to the amount that tastes good to you.

Also, bonus Rice Krispie Treats microwave recipe.

WHIPPED CREAM
1. Begin with thoroughly chilled cream.

2. Chill mixing bowl and beaters.

3. Whip the cream on medium speed.

4. Add sugar (2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup granulated) and any flavorings while whipping cream.

5. Cream is whipped when soft peaks form.

6. For vanilla-flavored whipped cream, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

7. For a chocolate flavor add 2 tablespoons cocoa with 2 tablespoons of sugar.

8. For coffee-flavored cream add 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules and 2 tablespoons sugar.

9. One teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of your favorite liquor and liqueur flavors work as well.
Tips:

1. Use cream that has either a 36 to 40 percent milk-fat content (heavy cream) or 30 to 36 percent (light whipping cream).

2. Don't over-whip the cream. It turns to butter.

3. Sweeten whipped cream to taste, and depending on what it accompanies.
What You Need:
* Heavy or Whipping Cream

* Granulated Sugar

* Hand or Stand Mixer

* Mixing Bowl

These are perfectly alright, just keep in mind that the theme of the thread is BRAIN DEAD EASY recipes. As a general rule if it's harder to make than the Jello stuff then it's too hard for this thread.

These are easy but kind of time consuming. I am from /fit/ so I am concerned about calories/protein, these would be tastier with white flour and ricotta cheese. But still delicious!

Chocolate Oatmeal/Coconut no bake cookies

2-1/4 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine

Carrot Souffle

Microwave pound bag of baby carrots in bowl with lid. Steam 5 minutes.
To blender add 1 stick of butter, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup of sugar, steaming hot carrots out of microwave, blend til combined. Pour into casserole, 9x12 pyrex works. Top with cup of chopped pecans, 1/2 cup brown sugar and crushed cornflakes (can use the individual child's box). Bake souffle 20 minutes til browned and crispy on top. Take this to work, potluck, thanksgiving, anything by preparing and chilling and baking an extra 15 minutes.

seven layer cookies:
ingredients:
butter, graham crackers, coconut, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, chopped walnuts, sweetened condensed milk
preheat oven to 350
melt butter in a glass cook dish
crush up graham crackers ( i like to use the cinnamon sugar ones) and pat them into the bottom of the dish
put walnuts down
then the butterscotch and chocolate chips
then the coconut
then pour the sweetened condensed milk on top
bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes

one time i set the oven to broil instead of bake and they turned out just fine, so this is a fail-proof recipe.

The greatest food you will ever eat:

Canned Biscuit Dough Donuts

Ingredients:
>oil, for frying
>2 cup confectioners’ sugar, divided
>2 cans Pillsbury biscuit dough, or similar brand

Heat enough oil to submerge about half a cooked biscuit in a frying pan on your stove top.

Break apart the biscuits in the middle so that they have a hole like a doughnut. Fry them in the oil until golden and then flip to fry the other side. Drain on paper towels for like a minute tops. Then dunk that motherfucker in a brown paper bag with a cup (give or take depending on how much you're making) of powdered sugar in it and shake the shit out of it. Make sure you shake off the excess powdered sugar when you remove the doughnut from the bag. Eat while still warm. DO NOT LET THEM COOL OR THEY WILL BE ROCK HARD.

I love books like these. there used to be a site that collected them all. The spam booklets were my favorite. They kept using bundt pans for the spam products tho.

I swear this shit could only come from the 40s:

Corned Beef Fritters

2 oz self raising flour or plain flour (I used wholemeal/wholewheat)
pinch salt
1 egg (fresh or dried)
dash of milk
pinch of herbs (I used Thyme)
2 teaspoons grated onion
6 oz corned beef finely flaked
a little dripping or margarine (or cooking oil)

Method

Mix and blend the flour with the salt, beaten egg and dash of milk.

Beat until a smooth batter is achieved

Add corned beef, onions and herbs

Melt the dripping or fat in a frying pan

Drop in a spoonful of the mixture and press down to form a small patty (mixture should be enough to make 8)

Fry on either side until crisp and brown and serve with veggies or salad while warm.

Makes enough for 4 people

Monkfish with crown prince gnocchi, mussels and black radish

To make the Crown Prince gnocchi, cut squash into four or six equal pieces. Cover with foil and roast in oven at 200°C for one hour. Take off foil, cook for further 30 minutes and pass through fine sieve. Mix in egg, flour and salt to taste. Roll out, cut into 2.5cm pieces and blanch in boiling water until the gnocchi rises. Refresh in iced water. Dry on absorbant paper, brush lightly with oil, cover and reserve.

To make the trompette de mort velouté, bring 150g of the mushrooms, chicken stock and butter to boil, simmer for one hour, add double cream, bring to boil, blend and pass through chinois. Blend in lecithin until emulsified. Season to taste.

For the pumpkin purée, cut pumpkin into eight or 10 pieces. Cover with foil and roast in oven at about 200°C for one hour. Take off foil, cook for further 30 minutes, pass through fine sieve and dry off in pan. Bring butter and cream to boil, blend with pumpkin until smooth. Salt to taste.

To finish, reheat the purée, warm the velouté, fry gnocchi until golden and finish with butter. Sauté remaining trompettes in butter, salt to taste. Fold radish slices in half and then half again (ie, into quarter shapes). In a very hot non-stick frying pan, cook the monkfish pieces. Decorate four plates with the pumpkin purée, pieces of gnocchi, mussels and monkfish. Place trompettes and radish on top. Froth the warm velouté and spoon over the top.

Easiest cornbread will be with self-rising corn meal. A little harder to find in some groceries but skips the step of needing leavening or sifting. Add eggs and buttermilk. Pour into heated cast iron. Done.

From "The Joys Of Jello 1963" ~ Grasshopper Pie, Fruit Pie Unlimited and Frosty Pie

FRUIT PIE UNLIMITED

1 package (3 oz.) jello Gelatin (any flavor)
2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
1 1/2 cups fruit**
1 baked 8-inch pastry shell or 6 to 8 tart shells, cooled

**use fresh or drained canned or frozen strawberry halves, sliced peaches, red raspberries, sliced bananas, fruit cocktail, or mixed fruit

Dissolve Jello Gelatin and sugar in boiling water. Stir in cold water. Chill until very thick. Then fold in fruit. Pour into pastry shell. Chill until firm. Garnish with Dream Whip Dessert Topping, or sour cream and additional fruit or sprinkle of nutmeg, if desired.

FROSTY STRAWBERRY PIE

1 package (3 oz.) jello strawberry or Mixed Fruit Gelatin
1 1/4 cups boiling water
1 pink vanilla or strawberry ice cream
1 to 1 /12 cups sliced or halved strawberries
1 baked 8- or 9-inch pastry shell, cooled

Disolve Jello Gelatin in boiling water. Gradually add ice cream, stirring until melted. Then chill until thickened, but not set - 15 to 25 minutes. Fold in strawberries. Pour into pastry shell. Chill until firm - 20 to 30 minutes. Garnish with whipped cream.
