I'm underage, I live with my parents, my dad makes enough money to square away the bills, and my mom fucking works at WAL-MART. Pathetic huh? well all the money she gets from her job at wally world goes toward groceries.

Living off raman is do-able for me, I can cook that shit up, toss in some different spices, and have something to eat, but when my mom makes something, it tastes like SHIT, she blames that she can only afford cheap food, is she right? Or does she just fail at cooking?

My question is, what can I instruct my mom to look for at stores like Walmart and Food4less thats cheap and actually edible, furthermore, what can I tell her to get to let ME cook PROPERLY and serve up some exquisite badassness on super low budget?

TL;DR cheap foods that don't suck.

Pick kinda related my mom occasionally buys imported german stuff from a place up in cleveland that kicks ass when she actually gets it.

But in a household of five, 500$ every two weeks doesn't go that far, so yeah we do eat those things, but just about everything you put there is either
A) a side dish or
B) goes on a damn sandwich

You eat it with turkish bread and it's tasty, healthy, easy to make a fuckton of and very very cheap.

One of the things I really hate about it is my mom doesn't bother even googling recipes to figure out how to make it, she would rather just go trial and error and have us eat the fuckups.

all you need is 3 parts starch, 2 parts veg and 1 part meat. That's all. You don't need to waste money on shitty cup noodles; buy a few bags of spagetti for 2$ or less that can feed everyone, a few pounds of ground beef for 5$ and a 2$ jar of sauce. Put in some leftover bits of vegetable and bam there you go.

Or hell, Stuffed green peppers, paprika chicken, baked chicken with vegetables in the roasting pan, make cube steak and a gravy along with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts cooked with a strip or two of bacon.

Go to the stores yourself and see wha't sthe cheapest meats. Bulk carrots are like, a 50cents a lb so stock up on those; you can cut them up and brush them with oil and seasonings and bake, cut them up and put them the roasting pan with a roast, thinly slice them and simmer in chicken stock and then add sugar and lemon juice to make glazed carrots.

Shit boy, stop complaining and start watching some cooking shows.

If you're bored, instead of browsing 4chan nonstop, just watch an episode or two of Alton brown on youtube. Hell, I get 40$ a week from my roommates to cook supper for them, and I don't even need to do dishes/buy groceries anymore because of it.

Don't underestimate how valuable cooking is!
