Cinnamon rolls

Homemade cinnamon rolls are pretty much the best things ever...especially when they're kind of deformed looking! Since I was unable to find my parents' awesome recipe, I decided to make my own - it actually turned out really well. I'll post the recipe in a minute :o)

Cinnoman's Cinnamon Rolls

1 tbs yeast
1/2 C warm water
1/4 C white sugar or honey
3 tbs vegetable or canola oil
1 egg + 1 egg white
3 C flour
1/4 tsp salt
Milk as needed

Filling:
2 tbs melted butter (more as desired)
4 tbs packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tbs cinnamon

-Combine yeast and warm water and allow to rest for 5 min. Combine sugar and butter until creamy; add eggs one at a time. Mix in water with yeast.
-Mix flour and salt, then gradually add to wet mixture. Add enough milk until dough becomes slightly sticky.
-Place dough onto floured surface and knead for ~10 min until stretchy. Place dough into oiled bowl and cover with towel for 1 hr.
-On floured surface, press dough to ~1/4 inch thick rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle on cinnamon-sugar mixture.
-Roll dough into spiral-log, then slice into desired thickness (~1 to 2 in).
-Place rolls onto greased pan and cover with towel for 30 min. Preheat oven to 380 degrees F
-Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.

my friend made some at my house just the other day. he used a shitton of glaze or whatever goes on top but it was fucking delicious.

Next time I think I will replace the filling with pureed raspberries+cream cheese and replace the milk in the dough with orange juice. I have no idea if it will lead to success or failure, but that's the fun of experimenting.

OJ = bad idea, you'll denature the protein in the dough and change the texture. it might work great, but chances are it'll make the rolls collapse as they bake. the raspberries and cream cheese idea is inspired tho.

I was able to make 12, but you can cut them smaller of course. and it can vary on how thick the roll is and stuff.
