So, Marvel studios is supposedly working on some "street" level superhero movies. Word is they've been hiring writers for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Cloak & Dagger. We've had threads before about the potential of a Luke cage movie, then an Iron Fist movie, and then a Heroes for Hire movie, but I wanted to bring up a broader concept.
What if they did what they're ding with the Avengers on a "street" scale? That is, within the same universe, they do several interconnecting movies about street levels heroes and villains in NY, with the big Avengers-level stuff only hinted at on TVs or newspapers.
Considering that they don't have the movie rights to Daredevil or Spider-Man, their two top level "street" heroes, they'll have to get imaginative and start mining the less well known ones.
Tying them together wouldn't be hard. Cloak and Dagger have a stupid "we got our powers from drugs, so now we fight drug dealers" origin, but that could easily be changed so that the same group that did tests on Cage did tests on them as well, creating multiple heroes. Possible they could also have created multiple villains, namely Tombstone and Purple Man, for the sake of streamlining things.
What's more,t he corporation could simply be a front for the Maggia, with each villain in each film working for them, and then the final big team-up film being about the heroes taking on the Maggia itself.
For added consideration: Remember, the movie rights for The Punisher have reverted back to Marvel Studios.
