I'll admit that his death may cause things to get worse in the short term, more attacks, more aggressive insurgents.
But we're removed a guy who actively plotted the deaths of thousands, and would continue to do so.
Killing him makes things worse in the short term, but everyone is better off in the long term.
Leaving him alive means more people get hurt in the long term.
Point being, you don't leave an dangerous person alive solely because 'things might get worse' if he's killed.
