I just finished watching all 3 seasons of Avatar on netflix and I've gotta say, possibly one of my favorite cartoons of all time. Absolutely fantastic. Great animation, great story, great characters.

Anyone have any more info on the upcoming season and whether or not it'll be any good? I hope it is.

And OP, we have no idea if Korra is going to be good. We're hoping, as the original team is working on it. Also, J.K. Simmons is an Airbender.

As long as the original team is working on it, I'm sure it'll at least be watchable. Do we know if any of the original cast are going to be in it as characters or are they all going to be missing from it? Since it's only 75 years later, I'd expect most of them to be alive (the young ones anyway).

It's been confirmed that there will be no characters from the original series.

Nothing has been said for flashbacks, so far. So, i'm hoping for that.

I look forward to seeing an older Aang. Maybe we'll get some flashbacks and see older versions of the original cast as well. I sure hope so. Would be interesting to see how the look grown up.

I only recently finished it myself and was really dissapointed. I understand the severe restrictions they were under though so I guess what they were able to do considering all that is pretty impressive.

OP, considering that the new series has been announced to be 26 condensed episodes, all written by Mike and Bryan, the show's creators, and John Jonah Jameson is the voice of Tenzin, the potential for batshit crazy levels of awesome is quite high.

I can agree with him, ozai was an underwhelming villain.

The zuko v azula fight was more interesting. and the liberation of ba sing se/ airship assault, to a lesser extent.

Compared to the rest of the series, yeah, I can see the Ozai fight as being fairly anticlimactic. I mean, we knew who was going to win, and the fight just wasn't all that exciting. Especially after Aang activated his crazy orb of elements deal. But, overall, the series, including the finale, was excellent.

Would make sense, given the series "Bender VS Non-Bender" attitude. Great way to get a little begrudging support from non-benders.

What pissed me off about the Zuko vs Azula fight was that Zuko was winning, albiet not by much, then Katara shows up for fuck all reason and basically fucks up Zuko. Like, why the fuck did she even step foot in the field? Zuko was doing just fine and the fight was much more exciting pre-Katara showing up.

Rocketlord Ozai was kinda cool, and the animation for the whole finale was top notch but especially the final fight.
Also Azula vs Zuko was the most interesting fight, I wish it had been more of a team up with some extra firebenders fighting Katara or something.

I was dissapointed that The imperial Firebenders got so little in season 3 after the Dai Li got so much in season 2.

All they really did was escort azula in "The Avatar State" and be the gunnery crew for the airships in the finale.

and combustion man as a villain? c'mon there has to be someone else, Ozai would have had a dozen Generals that could have been potential single season villains. The best we got out of them though was Zhao in book 1 and to a lesser extent. War minister Qin.

so much wasted potential.

But Ozai didn't know Aang was alive, and I'm sure if Zuko told one of the generals the news would have made it to his father and turned into a shit storm. Combustion Man was a fine villain, he was menacing and bad-ass. And after they were done with him, it was all Zuko Adventures and the final episodes.
