Oh Robot Carnival. You and Vampire Hunter D were what officially got me into anime when Cartoon Network aired you on midnight that Saturday long ago. I remember for the longest time I couldn't remember Robot Carnival's name and could only remember the segment of the guy hunting down his woman. All I remember was the main guy and the villain fighting, all while this kind of metal music is going on. The villain just looks up at him after the fight, smiles, then dies.

The odd thing is, even now, I could never imagine my parents ever coming in contact with that let alone watching anything like that at all. I was too young to have stumbled across any other way though. So it is a mystery that will never be solved. Unless I ust ask my parents.

Still the -best- VG movie adaptation to date. I told her to take it back because I was so christfag at the time that the thought of owning animated softcore/blood/cussing would damn my young self to hell.

Thank god they didn't accept the return and my brother's friend called me a pussy for wanting to return it, making me man the fuck up.
It's probably what started me on comics when I caught Joe Mad's 328 Uncanny (Psylocke's tits) out the corner of my eye, and eventually lead me astray down the path of anime and hentai.

It's also responsible for launching me on a 15+ year Martial Art/combatives quest.

I fucking love Street Fighter.

Out of all the creepy movies I watched, out of all the scary books I read, out of all the times my grandmother would go out of her way to scare the shit out of me, this fucker was the only thing that actually scared me. I couldn't get past the part where you had to rescue the troll king from the Boogeyman's grave. Uggh, those fucking chewing noises...
I eventually made myself play through that part, and when Rosella was walking around in that cloak... He still creeped me out, even through he didn't eat you or whatever he did after he pounced on you. That creepy music would start, he'd dig himself out of the ground and just laugh. They he'd jump up into the air, and he'd never land. It always bothered me, not knowing where the fuck he went.
But holy shit, just knowing that you couldn't stand ANYWHERE in one place for too long without that creepy music starting and him digging himself up out of the ground was horrifying.
Also, that fucking nightmare or whatever it was you had to catch. A black blob covered with mouths that snap and growl at you? NOPE.

Still, I grew up on Toonami, back before it was hosted by Tom (nostalgia'd so hard) and the first show to make an impact on me was Robotech. Kids today have it so easy. My 8 year old brother is loved, but not exactly watched all the time. And his sleep schedule is kinda erratic to where he's watching the Disney Channel all night. I realize that any time he's alone he could access all kind of ecchi animes like Girls Bravo or Shuffle on my Xbox the family uses for Netflix. Luckily, he won't touch anything that's rated M or R. At least, to my knowledge, when we're around...
