What if Batman and Spider-Man switched cities?

Batman begins operating in Marvel's version of NYC, and Spider-Man begins operating in Gotham City.

Oh, and one more thing, none of the villains are capable of switching over to the other universe, no matter how badly they want to follow their respective hero.(I'm looking at you, Joker)

Actually, most of Batman's rogues are human maniacs with guns and other insane technology. With his Spider sense, Parker could mop the floor with those guys.

Now that he's lost it, he might have a bit more trouble dodging gunfire. But he could still take out most mooks like Two-Face and the Penguin. And compared to the tough guys Spidey usually fights, Killer Croc is a chump.

Since the fundamental law of the DCU is Good triumphs over Evil, Spidey would prevail but he would be a darker, more serious Spider-man. Batman would have to learn to work with people since the majority of Spidey's villains can take him out physically. Actually, the first time the Joker tried that, we would get pissed off hulked out spider-man that gets shit done. He would come really close to killing the Joker and Joker probably wouldn't try it again because it just makes Spider-man angrier and more dangerous. I think Riddler gives up, because he gets tired of Spideys antics.
I dont think anyone but the Joker would deal well with Spiderman and his banter during fights. They go from silent and brooding angry madman who beats them near to death....to brightly colored, cheerful and amusing guy who beats them near to death while making jokes about it.

Batman would get involved in one of those stories where the hero is obsessed with taking down the Kingpin. Shit gets increasingly real until they decide to leave each other alone to avoid a Pyrrhic victory. There would be a one-shot where the Sinister Six are hired to take down Batman. Daredevil and Batman don't trust each other. Black Cat is ecstatic to find somebody in her league.

Spider-Man would be much more palatable to the GCPD. Joker ups his game in hopes of forcing Batman to return. He is funded by Hush. The Riddler would go back to being a private eye, seeing that there is no detective to match wits with. The Bat-family welcomes him with open arms.

I think its interesting to note Spidey may have trouble with Gotham simply because the environment is too dark. He thrives on banter and playing with enemies. I honestly think he could do well, but would gain many social disorders (anxiety/depression) from Gotham when all is said and done. As for Batman, I think he may find that without a constant need for his real identity he slowly feels himself fading into the background.

He went around the city fighting gangsters, roughing up people for information, getting in the middle of crime wars, and going after mafia bosses

Honestly I think Spider man would probably cripple Joker after his third escape from Arkham. He wouldn't kill him of course but I think Spidey's more in-tune with the whole "we're only human" thing so he'd snap, but rather than murder joker he'd ensure he'll never be able to hurt again.

I'd love to see this idea come to life as follows:
Two Gotham stories with the same basic set up except one is the usual Batman story and the other shows how Spidy would handle it. Then the same thing again with NYC.
So you have the same start but different endings that match the characters.
Maybe make some shit up why cities were switched or just ignore that fact.
Question: rather use the same art style for all 4 stories or same art on Bruce/Peter stories or same art on Gotham/NYC?

People always seem to forget just how powerful Spider-Man is. I mean if he doesn't hold back he can actually stagger the Hulk. He's also an expert at making the most of minimal resources.

Fuckyeah scenarios:
Batman meets up Daredevil, they become instant bros, and the 2 of them, Luke Cage and Iron Fist pretty much clean up the streets of NYC in a week. The New Avengers end up out-Starking Iron Man's team, and Bat bangs Ms. Marvel and Spider-Woman at the same time.

Meanwhile, Spidey's wit and smarts wins over the Robins, except for Jason Todd, who's get his ass-kicked promptly for the simple fact that Pete's made a career or kicking knock-off and actual Punishers' ass. With access to Bruce's tech and resources (Damian would hook him up with access to Wayne-stuff, because he got Dick back in the Bat-costume) the Bat-Rogues are pretty much fucked. From there, he forms a new team of generational characters with Dick/Kyle/Wally/Roy/Karen/Starfire/Helena and spend the rest of his days trying to figure out if he wants to stick in Selena, Harley or Babs. Bitches love Spider-man afterall.

Gotham is a full commitment. And Peter can't do that. Peter needs some social life to remain sane.

Batman lost his sanity a long time ago. Bruce/Dick already know that their life became protecting Gotham. Peter will still have issues coping with his life fully only being crime fighting, he just can't do that.

A constant fight against super powered enemies and super tech baddies would put Bats at a disadvantage at first. But we all know Batman is one for resourcefulness, after a while Bruce would have plans and tech to fight back against the many baddies of NYC [Disruptive gadgets to take out Ock's arms, sonic weaponry for Venom and Carnage, a can of silly string to blind Ryhno]

In the end, give either of the heroes some time and they will fit in with their new homes.

Now that I think about it alot of it has to do with their backgrounds.
Batman spent his whole life preparing to become the hero his city needed because of one bad run-in behind a movie theater. But he's failing. A man who dedicated his entire being to being a hero, cannot keep thugs off the streets for more than a day at most.

While Parker, was given his powers almost as a surprise. And while yes, he does have his share of continuing tragedies and reoccurring rogues. It's possible that to him it's all a little easier to swallow since he didn't grow up spending his whole life thinking he'd be unstoppable.

I guess in a really stupid way I'm trying to say, Batman can't handle drama because he honestly spent his whole life thinking his training would make protecting Gotham easy. Only to find the rogues stepped it up to.

Why wouldn't he? If he can make an antidote to make himself immune to the effects of the Lizard when he turned pretty much all of NYC into lizard people, I think he could handle a poison or two.

According to OMIT the only real difference is that him and MJ never officially get married and instead just lived together and were occasional sex friends, yet none of that really discounts The Totem, if anything Kraven's recent arc only reinforces his mystic connection

So the implications in this thread are that Parker can handle both his own world and Batman's?

Come on ya'll; of course Peter proves to be capable in his OWN universe. If he weren't capable of protecting NYC, then he'd be a shitty superhero right?

The only way to look at this is objectively, without looking too much into the worlds where these characters exist but moreso of the character traits of the people in question.

Batman's a very stoic person; he is ridiculously idealistic and will stick to his guns like a mantra. Spiderman's entire shtick or likability stems from him being an average joblo with extraordinary gifts. Because of the normalcy that is Peter Parker, he's more prone to fly off the handles or lose his composure while in Gotham, something Batman would never do.

Now, how would Batman fair in Spidey's world, the guy with an unbreakable morals that's teetering on the point of being neurotic?

Fairly well; granted, Spidey's villains are far more catered towards Spidey. Conversely, Batman's villains are catered towards him.

So in the end: Batman will stay true to his word, while Spidey will likely bend under pressure and possibly maim or kill the infallibly ruthless assholes that comes with Gotham's blemished city.

And yes I read both so shut the fuck up.

That being said though, Batman has trained almost his entire life to be what he is; whileas Spiderman's abilities fell into his lap. Sure, Spiderman's a veteran with the whole crime fighting shit, but you can't beat the prowess of someone that's gained all of their abilities through hard work and dedication.

Spider-man may be an Average Joe sort of guy but he is a hero as well, he's proven thousands of times that he has more mettle than any average human and it's not like it's the first time he's seen the horrific side of humanity.

I have a lot more respect for Spider-Man than for Bats, but then I'm not going to lie and say I've read both equally. I havn't read Bats at all, and I've only recently started reading Spider-Man, but I already know that he's been through so much and come out standing every time.

Every guilt ridden death, murder, sick twist, and plain ol' beating he's been through have left their scars, but he still has the balls and spine to get the fuck up in the morning, go to a job he hates for a man who hates both sides of him, fight the endless waves of crime at the cost of his social and family life, and all the while keep the whole thing a secret from those he cares about; and not for selfish reasons, but to protect THEM.
And he never stops with the wise-cracks.

Personally, I think Spidey can take whatever the world throws at him, no matter what city he's in.

Whereas Batman really only has gone through the one major tragedy, as far as I'm aware, and he has the wealth and privilege thing going to ensure he's never needed to work to keep food on the table.

At one point, while masquerading as multiple heroes/anti-heroes, he suffered a severe identity crisis.
He was brainwashed into believing he was a clone.
He gained a brother in a clone of himself...who DIED for him.

Is that a good starting place, because I am just fucking starting. Spider-Man's life is SHIT.

He might've even saved Harvey if he'd seen the acid they slipped Maroni. But he didn't. There's only one thing that's at all important in the Bat-cave. The memorial case. Amazing Spider-Man.It's honestly all pretty good. I'm semi-marathoning it. I'm trying to read through every single issue just to get every detail and to try to understand everything about him and his universe. It's been pretty enjoyable even after quite a few issues. You obviously get the filler issues where he just kind of fights some no-name baddie, but something important usually happens, and that keeps it interesting.

Ultimate Spidey is really engrossing too. I marathoned up through Ultimatum without even meaning tot. It was glorious.
