>>28987880That's the moment my buddy chooses, he comes out with the crazy wings and mask, all hunched over in the moonlight and, honestly, it doesn't look too bad, he starts pouncing on everyone and screeching and they all act like they're in mortal anguish, even though once in awhile they laugh on accident.
My part is to grab the kid and say "We need to get of here" but he doesn't move, so I'm thinking well shit, he didn't fall for it. He keeps his eyes on the "Dragon" and all these people biting at their gums to keep from smiling after making fun of him for as long as he has been a member and he says
"They need me"
And I am honestly shocked by that, but one of the other guys picks him up and carries him back to the campsite where the adults have made us cake over the fire, which only tastes good if you have been having crappy hamburger meals for a few days. We are all laughing and eating, and the boys who were "attacked" have all snuck back in but this kid is sitting by himself on the other side. My tent is sort of near him and I'm grabbing some water when I hear one of the adults come up to him and say "Hey buddy, don't you want a piece?"
"I don't deserve any"
The scoutmaster is silent for a second before trying to laugh it off and says "I'm sure you do"
and the kid looks up at him and with his voice tense he says "You don't understand. Our friends are dead."
He walks back to his tent and a little later I swear I hear sobbing...
