>>300297Well its that, but I think the unique thing Homer brought to modern culture is a kind of philosophy on life. I mean...not necessarilly always in a positive way. But look at Homer's Enemy....with Frank Grimes. There's many examples but thats the best.
We live in an age at the moment thats really obsessed with our own shortcomings and faults...to the point its not really knowing our limits more than it is a distraction. An age of second guessing ourselves. Every character on this show is interestingly multi faceted, Bart's not a one dimensional little punk, Lisa doesn't always know whats best despite what she thinks, Krusty's cynnical but with a reason, Wiggum can be crooked but he isn't maliciously corrupt or without a possible explanation. List goes on, but Homer's unique in that he shows us that its okay to be human...with all your faults. But you gotta still live life and not get hung over about it.
