>>30390473I don't claim to understand this, but here I go.
Two brothers grow up. The older is succesful, well liked, has a wife, a farm and animals.
The younger more of a loner, always in his brothers shadow. As you can tell he's a bit off.
So, he offers to kill the "monster" (probably just a common wolf, the one they killed). But his brother, probably worried about him, tags along.
In the end, the older brother kills the wolf, and this does it for the younger. He has so much, and now he takes the glory for this too. He kills his brother and hides him in a mysterious hole (that smells of lilacs, which is a flower that signifies death, I think).
The thing that comes back is not his brother, atleast not how he knows him. Might be some spirit of vengance from the hole, we don't know.
The hole is the real mystery here, anyhow. This "brother" doesn't look him in the eyes, has a new coat, and is digging a hole (presumably to kill the younger brother and hide him).
When he goes back to see if his brother is still in the hole, the corpse is there, but it moves too look at him.
TL:DR; Man kills his brother, puts him in "cursed" hole, which leads to his brother getting his revenge beyond the grave.
