>>31121036>Willing to let some old woman freeze to death while he has a fucknormous castle.>Literally becomes a monster because of how bad he isAnother interpretation would be:
Random-ass beggar who is a complete stranger and, for all anyone knows, a thief or a fugitive, practically demands to be let into a barricaded semi-militaristic estate, despite knowing full well that given the severe social differences at the time she'd get shoved away, spat on or even beaten for such presumption in any other given castle in the known world.
She is met, unsurprisingly, with a flat refusal.
She then decides to show her true form, previously concealed for the purposes of testing the morality of an entirely random, understandibly spoiled young monarch...because she believes to be the sort of person that can pass judgment based on a single act.
She then proceeds to turn the monarch into a freakishly hideous beast, which is in itself a punishment exceeding the crime to such a point as to make one wonder whether she was simply looking for an excuse to ruin someone's existence.
But she doesn't stop there. She also decides to (a) set a seemingly impossible task on the now-hideous monarch's head, failing which she would murder him without a second thought, and (b) condemn ALL HIS COMPLETELY AND ABSOLUTELY INNOCENT SUBJECTS whose only fault was to be in the immediate vicinity at the time.
She then leaves without so much as a second glance, and is never seen again.
...I think, gentlemen, we have established who the TRUE villain of this story is.
