>>31437099Continuing from where I left off, I once had a story idea for Jervis I've mentioned here before.
He's not a pedophile, but he does gravitate towards children. He thinks they have something in common with his worldview, I suppose. Anyway, Jervis is walking down the street, crazy as pants, and all the girls look like Alice to him. But young girls often have braces. And paranoid schizophrenics sometimes have auditory/visual hallucinations.
Jervis thinks the girls' braces are talking. Not just talking, but saying mean, nasty things to Jervis. He sometimes thinks they're moving, living things. It torments him, to imagine these terrible creatures hurting the girls.
So, Jervis gets his hands on some cheap electronics, makes some of his microchips out of re-purposed parts. Then he catches some rats. Over the next month, Gotham is plagued by a series of horrible animals attacks, when rats crawled into a child's room at night and tried tugging and clawing the braces off their teeth. The mind control chips are low quality and the rats are dumb, so they go to the wrong children sometimes.
Batman investigates. At first he figures The Ratcatcher is behind it but finds no, he's still locked up. So he tries to catch the rats in the act one night. He does so, and the animals flee, but when it looks like he's going to catch one it drowns itself in a sewer grate. Still, the microchip leads him back to Jervis, who attacks him with a small army of mind-controlled rats. Bats prevails and throws Jervis back in Arkham. Story ends with Jervis covertly spitting out his medication, wondering when he can get back to Wonderland, and away from Joker's laughter, which is echoing through the halls.
