Sup /co/. How's your evening?

I'm trying to work on a working theory/chart thing to explain the evolution of a fanbase and the popularity of relevant media (books, games, movies). I want to map out how a fanbase grows and changes because I think it's interesting. I also want to figure out why some fanbases go completely apeshit while others don't. Problem is, I've only seen this happen, like, twice. Once with Minecraft, and once with My Little Pony.

Both went through similar stages of growth and development, and both ended up with fanbases that are generally looked down on (less so with Minecraft, but /v/ hates the hell out of it sometimes). I've got some ideas and a general chain of events (which I was posting in a thread that got deleted) and I'd like to work with you guys so we can develop some kind of observable path of development. Who knows, maybe we can identify warning signs and methods to save a fanbase before it goes the way of Sonic the Hedgehog fans (aka OC everywhere, fetish porn being almost the norm, people forsaking real life for the fictional one, and people drawing fanart of Sonic/their OC with literally every other character out there).

I just want to know if you guys are interested in talking about this with me before I try posting it all again. And I'm pretty sure it's /co/ related because this board is a perfect example of the stages I want to discuss.

Anyone want to hear about it?
