Hey /co/ talk to me. Is it really that artists and animators never thought female anthros were going to be found attractive or was it intentional all along to play them off as attractive? You know kind of a Jessia Rabbit thing going on when applied to grown men.

It's when bored young male animators, assigned to animate funny animals, make some of them curvaceous babes to entertain themselves. It's understood that the show's child audience would barely notice or care. And for the most part that thinking held out. There are a lot of furries, but they're a relatively small proportion of the total number of people that must have seen, say, Rescue Rangers or The Great Mouse Detective.

For the most part she was just a computer nerd that felt obliged to always help out her brother, sometimes getting quite frustrated with him. Her tomboyness starting sprouting in Crash 3.
Unfortunately the story ends there. She's simply become even worse with time and handing the Crash series off to more developers, and that honestly pains me. Seriously, looks at this shit.

I honestly do think they were meant to be found attractive. They're trying to mimic human standards. When a character is supposed to be an attractive woman, but they're an anthropomorphic animal, they're going to try to make them attractive regardless in order to get the point across. If Carmelita or Minerva were to look exactly like their animal counterparts, it'd be hard to decipher that they're supposed to be attractive. >>32254667 Of course the animators were drawing them to be sexy. That was the joke. Like with anthro animals it's "lol, this cat is acting like a real human, it's so silly." They weren't really drawing them like that so it would turn people on, it was just part of the joke. However the internet interpreted this as "Wow, that cat is really sexy and I wish to fuck it."
See: Tiny Toons and Fifi. Especially the part where one fucked up furry started sending letters to the people involved in the show about how hot Fifi is and how he wanted to fuck her, partially contributing to people leaving the show and ending it's run on TV.

Doing a burlesque scene with the mouse IS something for grownups, that much is true. HOWEVER, I don't think it was there to "turn on" the adult audience, it was there as a funny reference to an adult thing, namely actual burlesque shows with scantily clad women. The animators didn't want the adults watching to be like "ooh yeah, sexy mouse legs I wanna fuck those rat teeth." It was more like "Oh, haha, she's a burlesque dancer, awesome I didn't think they'd do this in a kids movie."
An example of something where the animators actually wanted to turn on the audience would be stuff from ecchi or hentai anime. Blatant "fanservice" if you will, which I don't think this cartoon animal stuff falls into.

My opinion on the matter is that in this modern time, people living in a technologically advanced area have been overexposed to traditional, mundane images from the day they are born. Hence, the appeal of furry art for some, if not most, people is the originality of the image, form and idea. We have become starved for the "New Image". I like furry art, both adult and general rated, mostly because the image is something I could not see in my everyday life, a life overexposed on all fronts, of images I have seen before.

I honestly dont give a fuck what I find sexually attractive, long as it doesnt hurt anyone. Just keep it to yourself and dont hurt anyone. course, the keeping it to yourself thing is where furries fall down.

I hated Krystal in Adventures, but I thought she was okay in Assault. I was an adult by the time she came around though, and while I've always thought furry chicks were hot, I never had a crush on any furry chicks when I was little. The closest I got was Demona.... but I wasn't all that little by that time.

>>32255556 I really hate this "things used to be good" mentality. Aren't we having this discussion right now? Is there any real basis for saying things have changed?
From what I've observed /co/ is mostly a circle jerk, like all the other boards here, and once in a while we have a good discussion about something. I've seen several threads like this in the past, and while somewhat interesting, they are all the same and we're all just rehashing old points.
If you're new to co its probably great but after a while you've said and heard most opinions that are going to be expressed on the board. Then the nostalgia kicks in and you start going on about how it used to be good, when in fact its exactly the same. Its just not new to you anymore.

>>32257569 compared to the rest of 4chan it still is pretty chill. I'm just saying that when the board was new (2006), everyone got in here and took the opportunity to have a few months of good discussion. But after a while you start repeating yourself, honestly a thread EXACTLY like this pops up once a month (here's a fun game next time one comes up count how many posts it takes for someone to mention Jollyjack). It gets a couple hundred replies and dies.
Even if we had this conversation everyday, it wouldn't change, because almost every regular on /co/ has participated in these threads in the past. My point is that this stuff isn't that complicated or deep, the length of time you can discuss anything on this board without repeating yourself is very short. Which is why most of the conversation here revolves around new shows, new comics, and very productive fandoms. General criticism or analysis just isn't something you can talk about day in day out.
Its the same thing on a lot of other boards. /a/ talks about the new season, to the point that even trying to talk about classic or important series is seen as a troll. And in every thread like that there is one guy going "we used to talk about this kind of stuff all the time, this board sucks now". Its just pure 4chan nostaligia, which is almost encouraged given the temporary nature of image boards. If this was a forum, I couldn't imagine how many threads would exist like this, all saying the same points and rehashing the same old arguments.
Don't get me wrong it's fun, It's why I'm here. But I don't buy that there was some mythical past where every post on 4chan was gold and we all participated in friendly thought provoking discussions. At one point everyone was new to the board and they just filtered out the shit from the good, now that you're familiar with the good, you can't help but notice the shit too.

It's undeniable that there's a clear aspect of sexuality to many of these characters. And anthropomorphism has been around since the dawn of ages. The human race has always seen traits of animals in itself, whether they were Viking berserkers who believed they could transform into bears, or horndogs who decided that cats are sexy and "pussy" should be slang for vagina. The only thing that changed is that there's a lot more of us now, we have more free time, more knowledge and we can communicate more efficiently. The whole "furry" thing flowed forward from that.

She's topless for a good chunk of the quest, and interacts primarily with a slime who is a bard.

I don't think it's anywhere near as complicated as you guys are making it seem. Female anthros are sexy because they're just sexy women with fur and animal features, like ears and tails. ...that's it. Some people may develop fetishes towards it, but I really don't see why it would be weird to find Minerva Mink or Coco Bandicoot attractive.
