>>41996317Europeans have 3 times more cells in their livers dedicated to breaking down alcohol. So yes, on average they can consume much greater alcohol for a much longer time before feeling the effects.
Personally I've got way too much of it. I have blue eyes, and my mother has red hair (meaning I have one recessive gene for red), both of which are markers for drug and alcohol tolerance. I'm completely immune to Novocaine and Lidocaine, it took three times the normal dosage of local anesthetic to keep me under the one time I got dental surgery.
I once went to a bar with the express purpose of drinking until I finally experienced drunkeness. I had 8 shots of captain morgan in root beer, four gummi bears (some kind of weird vodka shot), four scooby snacks (I don't even know, kind of minty), something called a cement mixer, six shots of vodka, and a Jaegerbomb.
I was left with some serious nausea, but otherwise was still coherent. At this point it seems I'm more likely to get alcohol poisoning than to ever understand why people enjoy drinking.
