Since my friend and I didn't preorder tickets for otakon what do you think our chances are of getting in? I know this is a big thing, sadly enough, but we don't want to drive down for nothing. We're from Pennslyvania.

There are 7000+ reg spaces left. You should have no problem getting a membership (that's what they call it, not me). Unlike last year, which that started the attendance cap. It was 20k last year and this year it's 25k.

Last year the registration sold out by noon on Saturday. You should be fine as long as you get there before Saturday morning.

It was 22,000 last year, not 20,000. But yes, with 25,000 total (this does not include staff, dealers, press, gophers, etc) and 7,000+ remaining, as long as you get there Friday, you'll be fine.
