>>3918970Well it depends. I'm not an expert, but I would hazard a guess and say that a good portion, maybe most doms/dommes are switches. Breaking a dom/domme I dont think would be any different than breaking a sub, in that it engenders complete trust.
Being the dom/sub is not so much a mask, or pretending, than it is letting that side of you take over. Everybody has a dom and a sub inside them. I personally think every relationship has a dom and a sub, romantic or not, and who is the dom or sub changes.
So essentially, for a dom to break would require another dom with a perfect read on them, all that good stuff.
However, that's just thinking in sense that only the sub breaks in a breaking scene. When a sub breaks, it's a powerful experience. There is great potential for the dom/domme to feel complete trust in the sub as well. BDSM can be extremely extremely intimate, and just the simple act of the sub fully trusting the dom/domme can be profoundly intimate. I wouldn't say the dom/domme 'breaks' with the sub, but in terms of trust and intimacy, it's very similar.
Obviously people have dom-type personas that they take on during the scene, but unless that is a 24/7 complete power transfer relationship, that persona is left in the scene. So while I wouldn't say the persona in the scene is a mask, it's left with the scene when the scene is over.
