>>3703881Ahh, that's slightly different. Autism, even in it's milder forms, still cause on particular reaction in the human brain: a mix of over/under stimulation.
It's a common technique in special ed. classroom to calm the worse caases by 'crushing' them under large pillows or the like, and I have never seen them happier, and must confess an explicable fetish for the same experience.
Autism creates a general disconnect from the usual sections of the brain that process the going ons of your environment, so in that way, you are constantly frustrated by the lack of stimuli. On the other hand, your brain is also much, much more sensitive to the five physical senses, in that a lot more computing power is given to them than is considered normal for a human.
The end result is that your constant frustration by lack of mental stimuli, can be supplemented by an overdose of physical stimuli, which is the reason many autists do what is called 'stimming', which often means the twisting of the fingers or poking of their own face.
