Now, the implications. Society freaks out trying to understand the significance of this virus, though the realization that herms are not sterile, just very rarely fertile, calms their concerns that humanity will simply end. Religious and morally conservative groups will condemn it as the Devil's work, trendsetters and rebellious teens around the world will probably embrace it. Cults will form around the notion that the herms are an "evolved" form of humanity, and likewise other groups will declare that the futanari are aliens or otherwise not "true" humans.
Most transgendered folk will probably go out to obtain an infection quite quickly, as the FtMs would want the dick and the MtFs would probably be eager to obtain that vagina and the other feminizing characteristics brought on by the virus.
Violence against futa would probably be an issue here and there, but as the obvious signs are few and far between (except for the feminizing of men) and the infected are generally stronger and faster than regular humans, the conflicts tend to go in favor of the herms. Over time humanity adjusts, the obvious benefits to youth and longevity (remember the healing factor retards aging too) become more appealing as the hermaphroditism seems no longer so shocking.
And given the virus' contagiousness, within several decades a major portion of humanity is futa, with plain old males/females seen as backwards and antiquated. The long lifespan and rarity of reproduction means the futa are also generally more intelligent than regular humans. Gender becomes obsolete.
