Hi /fa/, I need your help.

My brother's birthday comes soon, and I decided to buy him a tie. Problem is I don't know anything about male fashion. So I have some questions.

1- How much a decent tie cost?
2- What kind of tie is the most /fa/?
3- Which brands are the best?

I am also interested.
Only thing I can tell you already is that your tie should be darker than the shirt your are wearing. Also, don't mix patterns of cause.

But that's pretty much what you want to aim for. A nice silk, slimmed down tie. You can find some nice ones at the mall with brands like Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, and what ever else is on the same rack as them. It's better to go with plain colors (black, dark blue, gray, etc) but some stripped ones that you have in the picture look pretty good too.

OP, it doesn't matter where you get it, or even the brand necessarily.

I have a closet full of amazing and expensive ties, the one the plebeians always complement me on (which is who you will deal with the most) is a $5 tie from walmart. No joke.

he probably has a black suit and a white tie right? he can wear any tie with those so just get something that looks good, you will make a difference beatween a good and a bad one. My perconal goal is to get something in "every" color. Slim ties are 'in fashion' now so one of those would be a good idea. Some people might think that brand matters but i think that ties are nearly the only thing where they dont.

A tie seems to be a strange gift to get your brother, being a really meaningless gesture, especially if you don't particularly have a lot of fashion knowledge yourself.

I myself do like ties quite a bit, and I have around 200 in my collection. I usually like them to be between 2 and 3 inches wide and silk. Price and brand don't really matter as much, some of my favorites (I get most of mine from Goodwill, 2$, each) are from boutiques I have never heard of.

allso a nice colorfull bowtie might be cool if u think he would use it. those are a bit harder to pull off but awesome when done properly.
