>>3388195 Yeah, it's a pretty shitty guide. I've done better just intuitively, but I wish there were better general guidelines.
I've been using the color wheel to help coordinate, buying up mainly solid-color/single-pattern, well-fitting shirts with no obnoxious logos, sticking to Levi's 514s for my bigger-than-normal legs, and buying some classier-than-normal casual/formal shoes instead of "sneakers all the time".
Any other suggestions?

For example, I'm not exactly a paragon of fitness myself, and I simply can't wear 510s or 511s. Believe me -- I mistakenly bought a pair of 511s impulsively from Goodwill, and they're basically skintight; can't even put shit in the pockets.
Same with certain brandnames, that simply don't have the right kind of cut for guys with, say, more prominent shoulders, or a V-taper in the torso.

Actually i figured all of this out myself, and it's not a "nextlevel" guide in as much as it's a guide that's aimed particularly at /fit/izens who didn't know anything about fashion. If /fa/ has great suggestions specifically for /fit/izens i'd love to hear them, but at this point nothing /fa/ has really said has been at all useful in terms of getting past what's listed here. Here's an updated version, fixing TH's complaints.

>>3388258 being fashionable isn't about wearing a certain cut or a certain brand. Being fashionable is about using lines, shapes, colors, textures, etc. in an aesthetically pleasing way that expresses who you are.

Red and green are wonderful together but you'll still look like your mother dressed you for a Christmas picture. Personally, 99% of my wardrobe that isn't black or white is in the red, blue, and violet spectrum. I have only a handful of greens and browns and I don't touch yellows or oranges.

>>3388282 Good point. When I get an exact match based on clothing items I have, that will still probably look like shit (e.g., looks Christmasy, like you pointed out), I just look for colors near the indicated colors, and work from there.
Would a pastel, yellow dress shirt look decent, or just give off an undesirable cocaine-dealer/Miami Vice vibe?

>>3388286 Therein lies the rub.
I'm starting from a shitty-as-fuck wardrobe that my mom used to pick out for me, and slowly in the process of transforming that into something that goes well with one another naturally.
Which means that the period in between requires a SHIT-TON of effort in the morning/night before to get everything right.
Right now I have a lot of black, white, red, gray, and gold (earrings and watch) for some reason -- I feel like a walking Marxist ad, even though everything goes together decently.

I'm having a lot of success with the shrunken-as-fuck sweaters my dad has laying around from back when he was younger. They fit me, and are in relatively decent colors.

I'd like to say I'm not representative of /fit/, but you have no way to verify that.
Also, to play devil's advocate: why is that a problem? It's just a difference in perspective. Stereotypically /fa/ people, both men and women, often converge on very similar clothing -- are they all clones of one another, then?

>>3388467 you don't have to dress like you're headed to the gym, but being /fit/ means a variety of things when it relates to fashion:
a) that your body is important to you and you want to emphasize, it, rather than hide it.
b) a sense of masculinity is important to you (lifting releases fucktons of testosterone, meaning that people who lift are generally "manlier" and less effeminate)
c) fitness is an unpretentious hobby, so pretentious or intellectual styles are less appealing.
d) you have a nice body. you've already got a big "accessory." as such, you don't want to over-style or else you'll look either gay or like a guido depending on your direction.
