Is preppy "in" for this summer? I just picked up a couple polo's(fred perry, burberry) a Rugby(ralph lauren), a pair of boat shoes(brown, have a pair of white ones also) and a pair of slim khaki pants. hope it is. im 19 however, so its better than all the bro "XXX SOCAL NO FEAR" dirtbike apparell all my Vegas friends wear, and all the Polo t shirt with shorts shit my NY friends wear.

>>3388656 You're 19; you're old enough to start dressing for yourself (which it seems like you're trying to do), but you don't need to worry about what's "in" or "out" so long as you enjoy what you wear and it flatters you and makes you feel good about yourself.

overdressing is worse than underdressing.
you'll look like a stuffy snobby nerd kid when your freinds come off as laid back and chill.
you'll drive people off, especially women which is why i imagine you bought these shirts

preppy is fine as long as you don't look like a typical 4channer

I dress pretty much like the guy you belittle stated, and ALWAYS get compliments on my dress. never "overdressed" or tacky, nor do I look like a rich white kid who just got a new SL 500 with his daddys trust fund money.

I sport the preppy look myself. I dabble in Victoriana and wear cravats and neckerchiefs too. They compliment the look nicely.

I should say that Sieg does have a point, though. Keep aspects of the look casual or you risk alienating people around you. You can do that with use of colour, wearing the more eccentric preppy items, or use of slim jeans and the like. Informal shoes are a good idea too.
