I used to like jgl's style, but then I grew a little and came to think of it as too bland and cookie cutter.
I'm sure I've been influenced by plenty of celebrities over the years, but nowadays I mostly look at runway shows and blogs for color combinations I like and texturally interesting pieces for inspiration.
I then proceed to buy single items that I like based on the aforementioned ideas and make as ridiculous an outfit as I can with what I've got. Like outfits that I'd never wear in public, but contain some cool style element that I wish to explore or just plain like.
Then I reel it as far back to normal as I can, or until I feel like it's not too much, while still maintaining the style element that sparked the original outfit's creation. Sometimes the reeling back lands me at a place just past my comfort zone, and I actually really enjoy being out and about dressed like that, but the outfits I really come to like the most are reeled back way farther than that and turn out pretty boring and people think I look normal with just a touch of hey you should fix this, but the part they think I should fix is actually what I love.
tl;dr
i look at runway shows and blogs and play dress up like a 4 year old girl
