>hormonal imbalanceIt's actually more commonly due to neurotransmitter imbalances within the brain itself, though certainly hypothyroidism, hypogonadism, and several other general medical conditions can cause it (as well as treatments; corticosteroids being one of the more common offending pharmaceuticals)
>Besides, when you get to the suicidal point, you either die or improveThis isn't actually true. I like to compare real, MDD depression to cancer because it's treatable, and it basically festers and grows stronger whilst rendering the host sicker and sicker until eventually it consumes and kills them. Certainly there are some who don't survive even with treatment, but these are usually drug addicts whose substance abuse renders our pharmacological treatments completely ineffective. And depression, much like a cancerous lump on your body, gets worse the more you ignore it - it's just simply easier to treat it in its earlier stages rather than its more advanced stages.
Like I said earlier, just be honest with yourself and seek out help if you need it. There's no point to suffer in silence when depression is readily treatable, sometimes without even needing to resort to medications.
