A motivational tactic that has worked really well for me, was to just plainly admit that there were so many perks to losing weight and getting in shape that I couldn't even list 1% of them

And considering all the extremely mind blowing wonderful eye opening changes I had considered that would happen or be able to happen in my life had I gotten in shape, it was pretty un real to me to imagine that there were probably 1,000 more benefits on top of what I had already thought of that I had not yet considered

Do you want a fat people story, /fit/? Here's a fat people story.

Earlier this week my cousin's car was hit by a fatty in his huge as fuck overcompensation-mobile. His neck is broken and it's still unconfirmed the extent of the damage or whether he is even going to live at all. The fault lies entirely in the hands of this meatplanet who blatantly blew the red light and smashed into my cousin's car. He denies all blame saying he did no such thing and that my cousin is a liar.

My cousin was active as fuck. He's even on a scholarship for sports. And now everything he's worked for, and maybe even his very life, may very well have just been taken away from him just because of some fat piece of shit who can't even own up to what they've done.

/fit/ I've seen your fat people threads and raged harder than I thought I ever could. But this? This has given me a new understanding of the phrase "all of my rage."

During this, the GRANDMOTHER wheels in on her motorized scooter. She's the Sun to the family's fatass Solar System. She starts hollaring about why she ain't got her food yet, and for somebody to bring her her "motherfucking pancakes".

Manager asks her to lower her voice and please stop cursing and she proceeds to hit him in the knee with her cart, and then with her cane.

Police are called, arrive and cart the family away, grandmother still yelling about her "motherfucking free pancakes".

My older brother had this friend in high school, always had been bigger than classmates. Nice enough guy. Heard stories about how his family was pretty fat too and yet would make fun of his weight, put him down, etc.
After they graduated saw him around less but was getting bigger.
Saw him the other day at my workplace getting a slushie. This is years later and he is now full morbid obese mode.

I dont agree there. Whilst for some people it might give them determination, for others it will just kill their spirit.

Think it depends on the Locus of Control if youre familiar with that, and fatties usually dont have any.
Also good chance theyll just give up as they cant deal without support, and probably see their food as support for the social stigma that goes with being fat. Harsh cycle, but im nothing but supportive of fatties in my gym, although some people arent. Theyd probably be better of in a much more fat-focused place where they just focus on themselves rather than what people are thinking and being uncomfortable.

you should have just bought one of those fixie bikes then for a fraction of the price. if you try to take one of those walmart mountain bikes on a trail or down a hill the frame can actually break and you could end up seriously injured.

ive seen it happen before, a friend of a friend wanted to come biking with us and he brought his shitty walmart bike. everything was going fine until we went down this huge hill, the mountain we were on is a ski resort in the winter, and this guy hit a rock going down the hill and the fork of his bike twisted to the side and actually snapped off. it sent him flying off the bike and he rolled down the rest of the hill. luckily he wasnt seriously injured but he was banged up pretty good.

Some people see the honest reaction of "normal" people to them and and go:

while others go:

This is where I in turn have to disagree with you, friend.

imo a "fat acceptance" environment leads to excuses, shitty food choices and general "oh today I'll just cycle for 3 minutes on the lowest setting"-behavior.

I honestly believe that if you want to change yourself, you do it.

And I guarantee, the guy that quit the gym after going once because "people were so mean" didn't go running afterwards, or tried to do pushups at home or tried anything else to get in shape, because he just wasn't in the right frame of mind.
Some guy laughed at me is just the latest in a long, long series of excuses that end with "It probably IS genetic and I shouldn't even have tried"

That said, I also try to be supportive of people in the gym, and for what it's worth if I saw like 3 high school twats laughing at a fatty giving it his all I would bitch them out to stop making fun of him, but first the fatty has to prove he won't jump on the first chance to give up because it didn't happen overnight.

You know, I hear all of these stories where people tell fat people how to lose weight and the fat people don't believe them, and I can't help but wonder: why don't you just break down why it works?

Like if you say, I just drank water instead of soda and walked everywhere and they don't believe you, just explain to them that losing weight is as simple as calories in and calories out. When you cut calories (stop drinking soda) and you start burning calories (walking), you will obviously start losing weight, or at least approach that goal. It's not even rocket science.

I've got a road bike and use a Giro Atmos helmet. I think Giro are a decent brand if you are looking for kit, their helmets are quite nice and I like the adjustable head band.
