Sure fruits are a "good" calorie source, because of vitamins, but they are simple carbs and are not the best alternative on a cut. You're better off eating more proteins and good fats, and "filling up" with vegetables, wich have 1/5 the calories of fruits.
i bet OP was like "eating healthy" without counting his calories, doesnt matter if you eat only celery, if you eat 6000 calories of celery you WILL GET FAT
