Maximum rate for muscle growth naturally (drug free) would be around 0.5lbs/week.
So if you step on a scale and see +2lbs - you have to adjust less surplus, so it doesn't happen again.
Problem is - there are bunch of retards, who think - more mass put weekly = better.
