PROTEIN is used to BUILD MUSCLE. That's how you get BIG and STRONG.
HOWEVER, if your caloric intake is at MAINTENANCE LEVEL, it means that it's all used for ENERGY fueling your daily activities, on both macroscopic and cellular levels. If said PROTEIN is used for ENERGY then it won't be used to BUILD MUSCLE, no matter how many grams you eat.
