Larry Danaher currently holds the record for the 90kg/198lb weight class with a 256.3kg/565lb bench (565/198 = 2.96xbw)

so, he is 3.23x stronger than the average man on a pound-pound basis. so, he is a little stronger, pound-pound, than a chimp and has twice the poundage...

tl;dr who would in a fight(no weaponry), fuck strong powerlifter or a chimpanzee

I've learned that under 5% of the worlds male population can bench their bodyweight.....I don't believe the average male benches 180lb. lol

I'd say the powerlifter, if and only if he had a few months' training in pankration or some other grappling art. This would put him on level field with the chimp as far as knowing what to grab and how to twist it (it comes to chimps naturally, apparently), and with his superior strength and much greater poundage, he would easily destroy the chimp.

The only thing the chimp has on him given these circumstances is sharp teeth, which can be a factor, but I don't think enough so to sway the match.

powerlifter. his whole body is adapt to stresses that are alot more intense than what the chimp can produce. the chimp, however, is not adapt to these stresses. Therefore, the powerlifter could very easily break the bones of the chimp.(especially with the adreniline rush the lifter would have)
