Gym for 10 months. Never one squat/deadlift. Want these now.

How can I learn those two compounds? I asked somewhere and they said to stay the fuck out of those and just use machines (sigh...) until proper trainer. No proper trainer. So can I still learn those by myself?

I have the SS DVD which covers them all. But I fear that it's not enough.

What do you think? I'm sick of curls/stupid machines all the time. (well except rowing, incline leg press, bench press)
