My father, who once was an "elite" athlete (held national record in various athletic events), gained 45kg when my mother was pregnant with me.
Only now is he starting to seriously tries to lose it (going pretty well up to now), I'm 22.
He owned a pretty big catering business at the time (he even went to the finals of Meilleurs Ouvriers de France in pastry) and made basically all that my mother wanted to eat (e.g. puff pastry pizza at 3a.m.), which, when the damn things were ready, she didn't want anymore (he usually shared them between our dobermann and himself).
