-don't buy useless supplements (multi & whey/casein is enough), invest in good food. Read for a few days about a possible supplement before deciding, read PubMed.
-don't dirty bulk, dieting is annoying as phuck
-if you are not dropping weight, REDUCE CALORIES. Don't wait a month to see if it would perhaps start dropping again for some retarded reason.

Do your mobility work kids. Foam rolling, dynamic and static stretching and prehab movements (face pulls, scap push ups, scap wall slides) are your friends.

You'll get better noob gains if you don't cut, and you'll look considerably less fat with some muscle on you. Indeed, if you gain 20lbs of muscle and no fat, then your bodyfat% will drop substantially. Also, if you cut first you'll gain some of the fat back when you start bulking. Furthermore, having some more muscle will raise your basal metabolic rate, making it easier and more effective when you do cut.

alright, thanks for the motivation to bulk up. i should be aiming for the usual 500kcal above maintenence? or less, considering i want to shed a little bodyfat? I'll be getting a tub of protein soon enough; unneccessary sometimes but it'll make my life easier.
