I need to learn C++ so I can skip a prereq class I have scheduled for next year, but I've never done programming. Well I've used MATLAB, but I doubt that counts.

Does /g/ have any recommendations as to how I can teach myself C++ over the summer?

Websites?
Books?

Any help is appreciated.

I don't really have a choice.
It's the language we use at my school.

There's an intro and an intermediate class I have to take, but I can get into the intermediate immediately if I have past experience with C++

You're probably not going to learn enough C++ over the summer on your own to bypass an introductory class.

A semester is like 4-5 months long.
My summer is about 3-4.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible if I really get into it seeing as how I don't have anything to do during the summer anyway.

Learning something on your own is much harder and more time consuming than learning the same thing with a mentor or instructor. If you had had any real programming experience before, then you could probably do it, but without that, you'll have to learn the basics of programming as well as the syntax of a language.
