Galaxy S II has an unlocked bootloader with just a simple warning screen, and it got rooted too.

Not only did Samsung make the best smartphone in the world (by a long shot), but they even supported the dev community, unlike HTC which is now locking all bootloaders on newer devices, and Motorola's typical idiocy.

Non-Samsung Android manufacturers, are you even trying?

The Mali-400 GPU is not Samsung's, it's ARM's own design, and ST-Ericsson's upcoming SoC used in tablets and phones will also have it.

I'd prefer if they had gone with PowerVR's SGX543 like Apple's A5, but perhaps the reason why the SGS2 performs so flawlessly everywhere is because Mali, being ARM's own device, has better drivers? Not really sure.

Also, PhoneArena ran some benchmarks between the two.
The SGS2 scores consistently ~30% higher in general tests, and roughly the same or slightly below in GPU tests.

Even if Tegra 2 wasn't utter shit, the shit software on the Optimus 2X makes it laggy as fuck, whereas the SGS2 is smoother than an iPhone even in pages that have dozens of Flash videos, all playing at the same time.

Samsung, on the other hand, is both keeping the phones unlocked and is the fastest with updates, since the Galaxy S was the first (and still only, a month later) phone to get Gingerbread officially outside of Nexus phones.

I haven't even heard HTC talking about updates to their flagships like the Evo 4G or the Desire HD, I guess Gingerbread isn't coming since they even launched a brand new phone with Froyo.

I like how Samsung gives you 2gb of internal ROM for apps (and the remaining of the 16gb for general storage, besides the SD card)
Not like HTC that cheaps out on internal nand flash and you always have to worry about moving cards to SD.

A friend's Galaxy S has like 300 apps on it, and the internal ROM is still only using less than 1gb, moving apps to the SD card is unheard of for him.
And they did the same thing with the SGS2 too, so that's great.

The only phone currently on the market with a qHD (Atrix) has a PenTile matrix which is shit.

Honestly, Engadget said the SAMOLED Plus is even better than the iPhone's IPS. I have no worries whatsoever about it, I am absolutely certain it will be the best screen I've ever seen when I hold it in my hands.

it's a standard naming convention, but the sad thing is it's still slightly less in density than the iphone's "retina" display (960x640 vs qhd 960x540).
however, outside of framebuffer captures (i.e. screenshots where the difference in scale is apparent) you won't notice the difference. even distinguishing hdpi vs retina display devices (800x480 vs 960x640) becomes pointless simply because they're already so dense.

so in conclusion the sensation's "qhd" display is not really the kind of feature one would boast in comparison to the sgs2, because it doesn't mean much anyway. it probably doesn't even fall into the xhdpi category of devices.
