I think 46" is the sweet spot for size/cost. at least it was a few months back, it might be even bigger now.

I used a small screwdriver to destroy the yellow video port in the back of the TV so that my father can't see that I physically damaged it from the outside. That way he'll assume that the TV broke due to old age.
