>>17261195>implying overkill is a bad thingIt is. What the fuck are you talking about?
>implying a broad user base of more powerful computers doesn't encourage development of software to take advantage of said extra powerThe OP is talking about computer gaming. Computer game development is almost entirely controlled by Microsoft's DirectX, which is also used by the Xbox 360. No game developer in their right mind is going to make a game that doesn't run well on the Xbox 360, as they'd be shutting themselves out of a HUGE market. Therefore, it's fucking stupid to have a computer that has performance much higher than an Xbox 360. You save money on your gaming computer to buy OTHER stuff that you want. In my case, tablets, multiple monitors, clothes, kitchenware (that's right, I'm not an underaged faggot with no life), leather furniture, LCD TV, etc. Those are things that I've bought over the years by thinking to myself "would I rather have overkill, or other nice shit?"
>implying if you're not redlining then you have more computer than you needNo one said anything about redlining besides you. What's being said is that i7 and Sandy Bridge are overkill. If you know what efficiency is, then you know that the closer you get to that "redline" without actually hitting it or dipping below it, the more efficient you're being.
Goddamn you're a retard.
